POINTS
TO PONDER
(DCC Corporate history found lacking)
We are interested
and bemused that after spending so much time in an environmental hearing
determining the adverse effects of reclamations at Boiler Point on the
surrounding residential village of Careys Bay, and after such clear and
concise controls were placed on the reclaiming of the harbour at Boiler
Point by that court hearing, the DCC decided, (erroneously), that the Port
Company didn't even require a resource consent (let alone a notified resource
consent) to errect a warehouse which contravened those controls.
This is why we are
asking the DCC that we wish to be notified when a resource consent is sought
to rectify this illegality (as it certainly must be for the building to
be continued to be used at all), and we are watching the situation to see
if the illegal building in question (Warehouse 'C') continues to be used
while it doesn't have the required resource consent.
The controls on the
reclamation at this point allow for structures to be built to 8.5 metres.
This structure is at least 10.5 metres high.
This structure is
a warehouse and it is our interpretation of the conditions of use that
there is also no provision for warehouses at all.
